Has anyone ever used a 22 rimfire with long rifle hollow point ammo on red fox out to 50yards?If so,what type ammo;grain, brand,.I really can't imagine it being effective,at least any farther than 30-40yds.Thanks for any replies!!

I used the .22 mag. on my trapline a few years ago with FMJ to minimize pelt damage. I had to shoot a couple of foxes twice to kill them. It would have been easier with a hollow point. I would suggest a .22 mag with hollow points out to 50 yards. I use this set-up for fall turkeys out to about 60 yards.

i have before, it wasnt planned though. i was walking along and i happened to see one about 45-50 yrds away. I killed him with one shot using my ruger 10/22 with Winchester Xpert .22 hollowpoints (36 grain).
