i live in florida, but in my experience setting up infront of an open field, possible decoys and scent eliminators, they will come to you. what gun are you shootin? a scoped rifle is almost a necessity. also, setting up on dirt roads worked really well in my experience. Im only 15 and ive killed several coyotes so keep your hopes up and the main thing is to stay alert.

what kind of terrain are u planning on hunting in? if you have range for a long shot of 200 yds + then i would reccommend hunting with a friend and one be equipped with a really good rifle and the other have a call or tape player . u can always switch during the hunt. but i would reccomend using either a .204 ruger caliber or a 22-250 caliber. both are small rounds and will do the trick, however, the 204 will not do as much damage to the hide if u plan on keeping the pelt. also, the 204 will give u more ft lbs of energy than the 22-250 at the longer distances.

.204 has more ft. lbs. of energy than the 22-250!! Not according to this chart. Now, maybe if a guy was to shoot a smaller bullet out of the 22-250, they would be close. But the fact of the matter is, the 22-250 usually is fed 50 grain bullets, or 55's, so it will always have more ft. lbs. of energy than the .204. The .204 has enough punch to do a coyote in for usre, but it doesn't ahve more than the 22-250.

howler, i've seen so many different charts each with different info regarding the .204, 22-250, 223, 22 swift, 17. . . . .

all i can say is i've been hunting with a fella that shoots a 22-250 vmax and the bullet passed through a ghog @150yds

my 204 at the same distance with a similar sized ghog and a vmax round didn't pass through but nearly blew the head off the ghog. . . .the 22-250 hog had to take a second shot

all shots were placed in the chest. . . .now i don't know / care about ft lbs at this point in time. . ..but i used one bullet to do the job that two of his. . ..

as said before, MAXIMUM CARNAGE

i'm not any pro at reloading, but i would think that different reloads can / could accomplish different ft lbs and velocities at various yrds.

i would still take my savage model 12FV .204 over any 22-250 any day. . . . .

wow, great job turning this into an arguement about guns instead of helping him, and i assume he already has a gun, but he needs help on the other stuff.

i stand corrected. . .. i did some calculations and spoke to a few people, and the 22-250 does have more energy than the 204 out to 300 yds then the 204 takes over. BUT either gun will do the trick. . . .kill the coyote!!!!

if ur hunting in open fields, take a position ALONG a hill, not on top otherwise your outline will be easily viewed. . ..then call with a squealer then wait 20 min or so. . . .try again. . .. .wait. . . . .

the key is to be paitent. . . .through my experience, i set up next to a tree line and an open field with warm deer burger in the winter as bait and a flex feather rigor rabbit decoy

i've combined both items and had sucess while using them individually and killed a few of the dirt bags. . . . .

i use a cass creek electronic call with the howls from both adults and pups. . . .a gray fox pup call is good or a coyote pup howler is good. . . .

post the pics when ya get a coyote

kill em all
