Default turtle traps

unrelated to bow hunting but I am sure some one has seen the traps made out of a barrell or some other configuration to remove turtles from a pond. any help on how to build a trap would be appreciated.

As a kid I made so many " floating traps " . I would look out over the pond and when you seen a turtle sitting on the wood you would run out and try to scare it in side the trap .

Kept a 8 year old busssyyyy all day long lol .

ive caught more turtles on trot lines then i can remember, Id say setup a trot line but use a bait that turtles will eat and fish dont like. the trick would be finding a bait that fish wont go after just the turtles. maybe chunks of chicken, but even that might attract a catfish or two. or set the trot line shallow enough so only the turtles can get to the bait. good luck.

I use a milk jug anchored to the bank. Get about a foot and a half leader on there and bait it with a cut up bluegill. I've tried chicken livers too but bluegill seem to work the best.

I use nylon twine with a big hook baited with a whole bluegill , The twine is tied off to either a bunch of cattails or a nearby tree trunk . About the only other critter that will try to eat a whole 'gill is a big catfish , and somehow I don't have a problem with that .

Try some catfish as bait. We had 4 catfish on a stringer and a turtle ate two of the biggest catfish we had caught that night. [:@][]
