Don't believe the story about the blue light making blood shine. I tried it last year and it actually made the blood look black.

I use a small LED headlamp that has 1 red LED & 2 white ones. You can choose which one you use. I typically use the red one and it is plenty bright. We all picked one up at Walmart for about $13.
