True. But what I was trying to get at is that you could weigh down arrows with super heavy broadheads, melted-in weights, added weight tubes, etc... (going for more and more mass for max momentum)...

We can measure energy losses though. If you're brave and/or confident in your shooting abilities, you can put your chrono out at set distances and measure the speed.

You mean to say you directed its KE to go in a specific direction, which gives the momentum. You don't "direct" momentum. You use energy to impart a direction to mass.
