As for myself, I prefer to concentrate more on hunting the wind. If the wind is in your favor, you've nothing to worry about. If it's not, cover scent may or may not help.

I've never been on a guided hunt, so I have no experience in whether to tip or not. I do wonder though, when you sign up for a hunt with an outfitter, isn't what you get for your money mentioned up...

I only buy guns locally. I get a lot of catalogs every year and use them to find new ideas. In the end, after checking price, quality and finding exactly what I want, I seem to buy only from Cabela's.
