Late fawns are common

This happens quite frequently in areas where the doe population highly outnumbers the bucks.

They do not get bred until their last estrous cycle, which may not happen until January in some cases....

I agree on the quality control issue. I had never been happy with what came back from the processors place. Most of it tasted terrible. They used saws and didn't trim the meat.
