Default CVA and Nikon

I recently purchased my first muzzleloader. I chose the CVA Optima V2 .50 cal in-line model. I have a scope that's not in use from a rifle I sold a while back. That scope is a Nikon Prostaff rimfire scope. Being new to the muzzleloader and black powder world I wanted to check with you pros first to make sure this scope will be okay to be set on this gun. Thanks in advance.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Does the scope have a BDC reticle?

In most modern "rimfire" scopes, the only difference between them and a similar product line centerfire scope is a 50yrd parallax (some 75yrd) fixed setting used on the rimmers instead of a 100yrds (some 150) parallax setting as used on the centerfires.

I'm not certain the Nikon Prostaff Rimfires follow that rule, but I believe they do.

  • Precise adjustments of 1/4" at 50 yards
  • BDC 150
  • 3.6" Eye relief
