Default Red dot scope for handgun

I recently purchased a used Smith&Wesson mod. 586 357. I'm interested in putting a red dot scope on it. Looking for a quality scope without breaking the bank. any suggestions? Thanks.

I have a Bushnell TRS-25 that I've used for a couple years. I have been impressed - it is very small, lightweight and has worked well on my Ruger. I'm not a huge fan of red dot scopes, but this one is very good. You can find them on sale sometimes- I picked mine up for $60 on sale, normally they are $100 or so....

I have to agree with OSH. I just got one of these on sale at Cabelas for $80 and mounted it on a .45-70 Marlin Guide Gun which is by no mean a light recoiler. It is holding up well and the small 3 MOA dot is fine enough for sighting accurately out to at least 100 yds. It is designed to fit on a standard Weaver style base or integral base.

I'm a Bushnell TRS-25 fan too. Granted, mine's sitting on a Ruger .22, but they have a good rep on heavier recoiling firearms too.

Another option is the Burris FastFire II.
