Default Affordable, good scope for 870 20ga ?

I recently obtained a used Rem 870 20ga combo with rifled slug barrel w/ cantilever scope mount. The factory scope is terrible ( to me ). I know they usually put the cheapest scope into the combo to keep costs down.
What are some good scopes for my gun for under $200 ? I've heard red-dot scopes are OK too. Any thoughts are appreciated. I'm only in my 2nd year hunting. Most of my shots will be under 100yds, and maybe 1/3rd of my hunts are through thick cover.
Thanks !!

Look into the Bushnell Trophy XLT, $109 at Cabela's with a $30 mail in rebate, I got one for a 20ga as well

Almost everyone that has one has been pleased with the Simmons 4x32 ProDiamond scope. All the scope you need for shotgun or muzzleloader. And a steal at $39.

Just saw on Cabelas.com that the Leupold VX-II is $239 with free shipping and if you apply the rebate offer of $20 off you pay $219, which is damn good for this scope, I just ordered one for myself, I have them on most of my firearms

I have this same scope and have good luck with it. It performs well, has fairly clear optics, does well in low light conditions, always holds zero, and has the 5-1/2" eye relief. It also has the easy adjustments on it. Good scope for the moey. I bought mine several years ago at Walmart but it was $70. I don't see where all these people are getting them for $40-$50 though. Maybe with shipping its close to what I paid from the store. Anyways, can't beat the price. I don't think you'll find a much better scope for that low of a price....

Natchez has had them for $39.95 for quite some time.

Natchez does tend to bite you with their S&H fees but still a great deal.
