Swarovski scopes
Maybe some help I'm looking to buy a swarovski
z3 3-10x42 or a 4-12x50. Putting on weatherby
.300 short mag. Deer hunting south Texas. Really not
sure which one. All my other rifles have leopold 40's.
Probably not alot of difference of getting light. 3-10 or
4-12 I don't think that's a big deal is it?. Will the 50 have
to be mounted higher? Price wise $ 100.00 difference.
I think it looks better with 42. But if there is a big
difference between the two I will get the 50.
Thanks John

I'd go with the 42. As a matter of fact, I did. It's on a Cooper 52 in 25-06. It's a great scope. The 50 will be higher but the glass is the same. It comes down to personal likes / dislikes.

not to mention the 50 is gonna let in more light than the 42...which is awesome for low light situations.
i dont think you'll see much height difference, as people think my 50 is a 40 all the time....they literally have ta read it off the scope itself.

Personally I think the 3X10 is one of the finest deer hunting scopes money can buy. Plenty of power, top notch glass, lightweight, mounted lower, and a reasonable price. Price is a bit high, but still not crazy priced.
The 50 might pick up a tad bit more light. But I have all the light gathering I have ever needed with the 3X10.
I know the 3X10 is my go to deer hunting scope. And I have both you mentioned, plus the 6X18. Tom
