Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40mm

I got tired of my dad telling me how great his 4200's and his new 6500 scopes are, and reading all the good reviews, so today I broke down and bought one to see personally how they would stack up against my trusty Leupolds. I bought a 4200 Elite 6-24x40mm with mil dots, and took the Leupold off my Bushmaster and replaced it with the 4200. I can honestly say I am quite impressed with the clarity of it. I will be taking it to the range saturday and try it out on some long range shooting. The only thing that i dont care for is the fact that it is made in Japan, but it does appear to be a pretty nice scope. I will be putting it through the test when spring gets here and I head too Nampa Idaho for a couple of weeks of ground squriell, coyote, and badger shooting. If it doesnt meet my expectations it will be replaced with a VXIII 6.5-20 that is sitting in my dresser collecting dust. Here are some pictures of it on my Bushmaster Varmiter Special Stainless.

The Bushnell elites are fine scopes and IMHO Bushnell hit a home run with the newer 6500's. I'll soon be putting a 6500 2.5-16X42 on my .338 Ultra. What really impresses me about the 6500 is how incredibly consistent the 4 inches of eye relief is when going through the entire magnification range.
Fritz, You may be surprised to know that Leupold gets their glass mainly from Japan and China to Leupold's specifications. Really the only thing they produce in the states is the metal parts.

After some range time I am throughly impressed with the 4200, Just wish I would have spent a little more and bought the side focus version. I have always been a Leupold man but for the money this Bushnell is a great scope! I would HIGHLY recomend one, from what I have seen.
