I was given a 7.62 semi-auto gun by a friend and my wife wants to use it to shoot pigs. She has never mastered bolt actions! She has only been able to shoot 1 pig even though there are usually 5 to 10 in a group and she wants to be able to unload on them! Anyway, I really need to put a scope on it for her, but it is certainly not configured for one. Someone told me that they make a rear bolt cover that comes with weaver style rings in it. Anyone know of such a cover and where you can get one?
Thanks!

You know I would if I could, but don't know much about these rifles and can't find much on the rifle that describes. Is there something on the rifle that will allow me to tell you the "type" of rifle it is?
However, this looks like it may work. The picture certainly looks like the kind of rifle I have:

Next question. I have a simmons 4x32 rifle scope. Can I mount that scope far enough back for the shell ejection to miss it, or will I have to get a shorter scope?
Sorry so ignorant, but have never shot one of these. Did take it out yesterday and shot it with open sights just to see. Shot well for me and open sights: One inch group at 30 yards.

you more than likely have a SKS. As far as I know there aren't any really great ways to mount a scope on one. The receiver has a cover on it, so a tradition scope mount wont work because there isn't a solid mount to be had.
What I would do would be to find a "scout mount" that replaces the rear sight directly and put a simple red dot on it.

Yep, I found a reference that shows the gun I have as a Chinese made SKS. How about this mount?

The problem with using the rear cover for a mount, is of course, that it is unstable. This one tries to get around that by having 4 set screws that tighten up to make it more stable? We are only talking about shooting 100 yards or less here.
