Nikon BDC Reticle Opinions?

Nikon BDC Reticle Opinions?
I was thinking of getting the BDC reticle but it seems to bulky for longer range shooting. Have any of you tried it out to 5-600 yard targets and hunting. I was thinking of getting the 3-12x42 model.
Just looking for any opinions and experiences with the BDC.

I don't like circles.
I prefer crosshairs with additional lines graduating from there.
