Default new savage combo, what to do with scope

my friend just bought a new savage combo in .308 from basspro that came with a cheap scope. I need to advise him on what to do with the scope. He is on a limited budget maybee 150 dollars if we replace scope. This rifle is mainly for his 12 year old son to use.

Option 1 is to do nothing and use the cheap scope and mounts for a year or two. In the future get a really good scope

Option 2 replace mounts and purchase a scope that costs around 100 dollars right now

what do yall think

catch 22 if you ask me.

I know the scope isn't good, but it maybe good enough for one year or two. Look into the the Bushnell Trophy Scopes, decent and at a decent price

I would take the scope off and put it on a .22 or just put it in the guncase. Check E-Bay for a Bushnell 3200 Elite, you might be able to find one for around $150. Check www.samplelist.com for their refurbished/demo scopes. The combo scopes aren't that good of a deal, usually.

Catch 22 is right....................???

Use it and never feel comfortable with zeroing it.

Use it and never feel comfortable in the field.

Buy a new scope, bases, & rings but can't afford "good" ones !?!?

How much are you willing to save, so you can buy a "good" set-up ?

Put it on a .22 and you will get some use out of it anyway...............
