Huskemaw scopes?
Can they be worth $975.00?! Ad says they are "Fully compensated to your round & load". Just dial in the ditance, figure a little wind, and BAM!
Any of you have any experience with these? |
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
Companies that are selling something can and will tell you anything. When in doubt go with a known name brand that has a good reputation. $975 will get a dang good scope with a good reputation.
|
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
Never herd of them.
Are they Swedish made? Seems to me they are either that or a Scandavian Military Grade of some sort.. If thats what they are they might be worth their weight in price.... Cause these Countries don't fool around, they make they best of the best and know how to use it.. |
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
Ridge Runner - Just was doing some research on Huskemaw Optics and came across this post.
What do you think of the kenton turrets? Do you use them? Definately sounds appealing to me! |
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
You must have been watching the best of the west. At the beginning of that series they were using Leupolds and then all of a sudden they are using Huskemaws. They are doing what everyone else is doing these days and that is having Asian firms subcontract their designs. I have never seen one or heard of them until I watched the best of the west series and for 975 dollars you can start buying a really nice scope plus or minus another 1000 but it will be from a reputable manufacturer. Huskemaw has no track record and not even sure who sells it in the US.
|
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
Never heard of them. Think I'll stick with the proven winners like Zeiss, Swaro and S & B.
|
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
Yep, I was watching Best of The West. That show has got to be the worst hunting show on TV. All it is is an info-mercial for their "long range systems" and Huskemaw optics.
|
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
They went from long distance shooting to closer distances and changed their producer halfway thru it. I like those Berger VLD's those in a 22 hornet is the ticket for long range shooting.;)
|
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
I've never played with the Berger VLDs yet. I think I may get some and start loading 'em up, they definately stone everything they shoot wtih them on that show.
|
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
I was able to look through one the other day at the range at 300 yards and it is as clear or clearer and as bright or brighter than the Nikon 4-16 x 50 Tactical that I have,or any of the Leupolds that I have or have had. They are made in Japan (just like Nikon and Busnell?).
|
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
Never heard of them. Nikon has been good enough for me.

RE: Huskemaw scopes?
I tend to agree and disagree with some replies on this thread. For one though i think the whole reason behind a BDC reticle is ease of use and quick adjustment out in the field.I don't think a person is going to have time to pull out their handy dandy pocket calculator, wind meter, balistic chart,ect...
They(huskemaw)have taken the time to do the research in the feild and have demonstrated how their system works. Yeah, there are other manufacturers like leupold in which they have BDC built into their optics. They work too as i own a leupold vx-l with a B&C reticle...IT WORKS! The only reason i would buy a huskemaw optic is due to the fact it is tuned just for that specific round and eliminates all the guess work as to hold over.My leupold works but is not "dead on" like a huskemaw would be. Are they worth $950??? I don't know...depends on how aqcurate you want to be. |
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
My reasoning would start and end with one simple question ..... WHO??
But I guess every company is a WHO?? at some point and time in their life.....;) MET |
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
I enjoyed seeing someone shooting an elk at over 800 yards & dropping it.
|
RE: Huskemaw scopes?
Never heard of them till Best of the West, and I agree, crappy show, just another commercial.
|
Now there's a review about that scope. Sounds decent.

All you 1,000 yard shooter are in a different league.........................!?!?
I assume free hand......... LOL |
well where i hunt, there isnt enough time to dial up 800-1000 yards. game would be down the road a touch by then. i see these shots and say, man did that guy see what and where he has to walk to and through to get that dead animal that is 1000 yards away.

I read that they are made by Nightforce for Huskemaw
|
For that price you can get a Leupold VXIII 6.5-20 LR., that is what I have on my 300 ultra mag Rem. Sendero. It works just fine and Leupold has been arround forever.

Buyer beware !!!
The bigger the company, the bigger the advertising and marketing budget. BTW - FYI; Long Range Shooters, Since founding Gunwerks, and laying the groundwork for Huskemaw Optics in 2006, I've worked hard to develop unique LR products that work. Usually just incremental changes, but we made a good start. I also worked very hard to influence much of the long range shooting content at The Best of the West. Now with our new GSeven line of products we will focus in on "the first shot". As of February of this year, I no longer own any part of Best of the West or Huskemaw Optics. Huskemaw Optics will continue to support BDC turrets by licensing Gunwerks’ technology. First off,in the GSeven product line, is the G7 configuration of the Nightforce NXS. One thing I have learned over the years (and several hundred rifles), is that when it comes to rifle scopes, there’s pretty good most of the time, and then there is 100% "Built for the First Shot". That’s what the new G7 scope (built by Nightforce) offers. The new hand held ballistic program with G7 BC's, Multiple Winds, Trajectory Validation, and Shoot to Range, has been in the works for a few years, in fact the core algorithms are part of our rangefinder project (production as early as October) that allows BC, MV and other inputs to fully tailor the ballistic calculations (read: full ballistic solution). It is also used in our new online program at ballistics.gseven.com. Finally, we will be offering custom BDC turrets that feature BOTH MOA/click divisions AND custom BDC for hasty and deliberate shooting. Gunwerks has also introduced several new models in its LR series, from Carbon barreled sheep hunters to a 500 yard muzzle loader. The new LR-1200 is geared specifically towards the LRH crowd. At Gunwerks, we don't just build the most complete long range hunting rifles, we also rework customer actions as a platform. Pricing on budget packages is competitive with anyone, but remember with our LR packages we supply the entire system from ammo to optics and all the break-in, validation, setup, and testing work associated with a tuned long range system. Gunwerks even offers two day long range shooting courses through out the year. We do have a new TV Show coming, as well. Gunwerks will be the title sponsor for Long Range Pursuit. The first show airs in January on Sportsman Channel on Thursday and Friday nights. More shooting, and less goofing. Long Range Shooting is a serious pursuit. Thanks for your continued support. Best Regards, __________________ Aaron Davidson Product Engineer www.gunwerks.com |
If it was not for that infomercial disguised as a hunting show, I never would have even heard of this brand. Let's face it BOTW screams by our gun/scope but the drury's show's are just about as bad with the pse chest pounding. |
