Over the weekend I had the opportunity, to catch Kahawai off beach feeding on herring, anchovies, and native smelt. The Northern Kahawai are the same species as the Australian salmon. It is a good fighting fish on light tackle, and the fish/filets can be smoked, battered, crumbed and marinated.👌👍

Looks sounds like some good fishing - i fished in the ocean( alantic) once- for about 15 min or so lol- i would more if they were closer

Thanks mate, the aftermath of Cyclone Gabrielle had devastated the Hawkes bay and Gisborne region. This made beach fishing impossible with all the floating debris around, three weeks on, the beach and sea has slowly improved.
