Default Plinking rounds for .308win

I have only made a few test rounds so far using RL15 48g with a 110g fmj round nose and they shot pretty good and were easy on the shoulder. You could shoot these all day!!

So this is my question I have a bunch of this type of bullet because I once owned a M1 carbine. I have the 110fmj some 100g smj and 100g cast rn.

Any help on the most accurate rounds for these bullets will be helpfull. They will be loaded without a crimp because they will be shot out of my Encore or one at a time out of my bolt rifles.

I haven't really messed with light bullet loads for a .308, but would expect that some of the faster powders would give you the best results. RL 12 is my "go to" powder for this caliber. Good luck. Roskoe

ive played some with the lighter bullets but found if you push them to fast they arent very accurate. I think if you stick around the 2400 to 2600 fps range you will find the best accuracy. with a speer 110 grain spire-sp and 43 grains of H4895 ive found to be a very accurate in my 308 and also makes for a great medium range (under 200 yards) varmint load. good luck

A nice plinking round for the 308 or 06 is the half jacketed 100 gr plinker bullet that speer sells, and they don,t cost much either. vangunsmith

200 gr lee cast bullet, gas checked and sized to .309", 16-18 gr of 2400. Probably costs less than $0.10 per round, no recoil to speak of, and can easily do < 2Moa out to 100 yards.
