Nosler or Hornady??????
I hear great things about Nosler and Hornady. Which one is better and which one does everyone use?

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
Well, I do everything I can to stay away from Hornady. I do use the XTP's in Muzzleloading and my 44mag. I use a little of everybody for rifle. Half Nosler and half Sierra

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
my personal preference is Nosler for big game hunting... partitions that is... but that is just my preference... I've had good and bad experiences with ballistic tips.. more bad than good... i'm shooting hornady's right now in my 35 whelen AI to fireform brass and put some rounds down the tube... i do know a lot of fellow handloaders that do use hornady interlocks and have nothing negative to say about them... it's a toss up for critters of deer and smaller, either will get the job done with little worry... if i am after something larger or something which may very well eat or gore me i opt for the partitions... if you really want to spend the cash and need a bullet tougher than a partition you can always invest in some swift A-frames or Speer Trophy Bonded Bearclaws...
when it comes to big game bullets and terminal performance, Nosler Partitions are what all others seem to be judged by. for handgun, hunting loads, all hardcast big flat nose keith style lead bullets... Jamie |
RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
On a wide range of rifles in different calibers I can always manage to get any Nosler product to shoot better.

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
I shoot them all ,but Swift bullets are replacing the others in some guns.

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
I like 'um both actually. Some rifles like the nosler...some like the hornady. Any of you guys had any luck with the accu bonds?? I had real good luck wit the SST's in my 7x57 and the combined technology in the '06 on WTD this fall. Still trying to find the perfect bullet for both long range and up close shots....I guess there ain't no such animal. Regards, rick.

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
Howdy Jedi Knight and welcome to the forums!
As far as bullets go, most people I know prefer Hornady. My rifles are all small caliber, but they like the V-Max and Match BTHP's. I've also gotten good groups with Speer and Sierra, just not quite like the Hornady. The Barnes Triple shocks don't group quite as good as the rest. None of the rifles I've shot have liked Noslers. I'm sure people own rifles that do, I'm just not one of them. |
RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
I use a lot of different bullets. I have tried Nosler, Speer. Sierra, Hornady as well as Remington and Winchester. also Barnes. I find myself loading more Sierra Pro Hunters and Nosler Ballistic tips and Partitions. I have had very good luck with Hornady as well and have never had one fail in ant way. Hornady may be the best of the non Premium bullets. Darn, they are all pretty good. We are living in the age of much improved bullets from everyone.:D

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
For deer and smaller there is nothing wrong with the interloks or gamekings. For elk, moose I'd definitely consider the partition's or triple shocks. The biggest difference is in price. Where you get 100 bullets from Sierra or Hornady, your only getting 50 from nosler. That being said I shoot both vmax's and bt's in my 223 and 223 AI, both have excellent accuracy and performance on groundhogs and crows.
