RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
Depends on the velocity, I like the Hornady at under 2800 fps at the muzzle and the Partitions when faster. It's probably best to let the rifle have its say though.

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
strictly Nosler, half of my guns get Ballistic Tips, the other half get Accubonds.

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
I mostly use Barnes, and Speer Grand Slam 180gr. They work alot better for me.

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
I hear great things about Nosler and Hornady. Which one is better and which one does everyone use? That's the BIGGEST factor determining how to answer your question!!! Drilling Man |
RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
I would use which ever one is the most accurate because rest assured they will both do the job if you do your part.

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
Better for what?????? Kinda seems unfair to me to compare those two without even knowing "how" your going to use either one!!! |
RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
If I'm just hunting light-med. size game (deer!!) I can't just say Nosler, just like I can't say Hornady. A Hornady SST will be every bit as effective as say a Nosler Ballistic tip, in fact I doubt very much the deer would be able to tell the difference. Pick a bullet design that matches the game you are hunting then mess around with loads until you find a particular one that shoots accurately in your hunting rig! I have a Rem. 700 in .300 Win mag that absolutely shoots awesome with core-junks, I would rather use a "non-premium" bullet that I know is accurate and will work fine for the game that I am hunting than shoot a "premium" Bullet that the gun just does not like.

I use Hornady Vmax for my 243. Havent tried any of the Noslers yet as the hornady bullets shoot great.

RE: Nosler or Hornady??????
ORIGINAL: Jedi Knight I hear great things about Nosler and Hornady. Which one is better and which one does everyone use? I have had my best accuracy results with both Sierra and Nosler bullets. However, when it comes to shooting anything larger/tougher than deer, I use a Nosler Partition bullet because the front end is soft enough to expand at all ranges, but the rear is made so that it will penetrate at all velocities, even if the front portion explodes! Sierras work well on deer. I have not used them on anything bigger than deer, however. I have read reports that the new Nosler Accubonds perform almost the same as Nosler's Partition bullets, but have not personally tried them on game yet. I have bought some Accubonds in .375 and 8mm. Will test them the next time I hunt elk. Hornady bullets also have a good reputation and a lot of people like them. However, I have never gotten as good accuracy from Hornady bullets as from Sierras, Noslers, or even Speers. |
