I'm reloading 3006's for the first time,
I'm going with 49gr of imr 4350 with 150gr points
and I notice that the powder came up in to the neck of the cases just a little ways, well I went ahead and seated the points and for some reason I shuck them and I couldn't hear the powder shake....... So I'm maybe parodied but this is the first rifle shells that I've shuck that I couldn't hear the powder shaking in them, So is this something to wary about or not ?
I've reloaded other rifle shells before and could allways hear the powder in side.

with 49 grains of 4350 should only fill about 3/4 of the case........... Sounds like you have way to much powder in them better pull them apart. Somewhere along you must have over looked something because either your powder measure was mis adjusted or your scale is way off.

It it a "compressed " load? Check your manual...[]

6.5 Carcano - you and I might be the only ones who own a 6.5 Carcano. I bought mine for $40 and I can't get it to shoot worth a darn. Have you had any luck with yours? The ammo is price is steep, too. I don't reload for this caliber because the rifle doesn't desereve finely crafted loads.

What ammunition have you tried? The 6.5x52 is designed for a .268 diameter bullet, not the .264 bullet MOST other 6.5s are designed around. Try shooting .304 diameter bullets in your pet thirty caliber rifle, or .280 diameter in your seven mm rifles, and see what dogs they become, too.

Norma and some FMJ stuff. The real problem is that it shoots several inches high even with the site as low as it will go. The bolt handle is at a 90 degree angle with the bolt so you can't open it with a scope. I have much better luck with Sako, Weatherby and Remington rifles.

PAJack, you have to load a 06 up to almost 60gr of 4350 for it to be compressed with a 150gr bullet. Better check your manual. I load 55gr of it myself, no where near compressed.

Yes it is a compressed load...
I can't fiend my book that list charges and all any where and was going by what I had found on the Internet [google] of what some people had said was a good load in their guns.
But I have never dun a compressed load before usually keep it some where in between the listing of the book ..

I don't reload for it either because I don't have the dies for it yet but I get another guy it do it for me at 8,50 a box I don't mess with getting the dies no more then I shoot the gun,
I only use it for deer season, and "maybe" take two or three shots with it before deer season.

and as far as accuracy
off the bench I can with iron sites I can put three shots in to a quarter at 100 yards.
and off hand at 100 I can put three in to a tennis ball...
And that's just as good as the best I can do with any gun...

You can't find bullets in .268" diameter? Its time to start casting your own. Lead cast bullets are cheap and fun to shoot, they can be just as accurate or even more accurate than jacketed bullets, but they require alot of work to get to that point.

I picked up a mosin nagant Russian 44 for under 70 bucks asfar as european vintage war rifles go it is highly accurate with S&B 180 grain soft points at 100 yards with iron sights off a sandbag i can put 3 shots inside of a 1 inch circle, standing i can put 3 shots in a 4 inch circle at 100 yards. I am pleased with it and plan to do some hunting with it, deffinately deer and javelina and maybe elk.
