Default 300 RUM for Mule Deer

I know it is big, but is it too big for Texas mule deer? I have loaded a 180 gr partition with a muzzle velocity near 3100 fps for elk and I wanted to use this load. Will it just punch through without transferring energy, or will it do the job? What would you recommend for the 300 RUM for Texas mule deer?

The 300 RUM is not to big for deer. Niether is the 50 BMG. Both are in the same class for deer hunting.. Good Hunting.

That load will do a very nice job on deer. Good luck.

Will do a great job. Shooting one load for elk and deer both just means more practice and familiarity with that load.

No such thing as being overgunned or overkill.

The load will be excellent on mulies. If you like place it on the front shoulder and pull the trigger. More than likely the mulie will never take a step with a shoulder shot. This load will also have a wonderfully flat trajectory. Practice away and good luck.
