Default .44 mag bullets

Hey y'all,
Just wanted to see what y'all use for .44 hunting loads (pistol or rifle)...cast or jacketed bullets? Also any specs as far as powder charge, bullet weight, and brand would be appreciated.

I know someone who reloads and uses 24gr of Hodgdon with a Nosler 240 JSP bullet and he shoots it out of a Ruger Deerfield. He said that he also uses the CCI magnum primers. He said that he shot 4 last year and the combination was very good. He had clean kills and the bullet being a jacketed soft point, stayed in one piece and had nice passthrough. He also showed me his grouping at 100 yards and they were about 1 1/2" (real nice group for a carbine). He gave me a few to try in my Deerfield. If they work good I might reload some.

24gr of Hodgdon what??????????????????????

Anyway, in my handguns i use 23 grains of H-110, CCI mag primer, and a hard 245 grain "Keith" style bullet that i cast my self. I lube it with ALOX.

Jacketed bullets are a lot harder on a handgun than hard cast bullets. I learned this very early on in my handgun shooting career, and went right back to hard cast bullets. I've taken deer moose ect.. with my bullet and load, so i know how it works, and i see no reason to change. I've also won a lot of silhouette matches with the same load.

In my 44 rifle, i use jacketed bullets, and most of the time factory loads, as i don't shoot it much these days.

I use Ballistic Advantage BOAR-SLAMMER Premium Hunting Bullets (LBT style bullets (325) 529-3363). Good luck.

Preciate all the feedback. I guess I just need to experiment to see what shoots best. Thanks again.

I use AA#8700 under Hornady 240 grain XTP/JHP's in my .44 Mag with good results.
