heh for the price of a M-200 you could buy a sako rifle in 338 lapua and a lifetime supply of factory loaded ammunition.

I have a TRG-S in 338 Lapua.

My pet-load is a 200gr. Ballistic Tip propelled by 98gr. of VihtaVuori N165 and Norma brass. MV:3183fps from a 24.5" barrel.

It shoots 5/8" groups at 100m without a brake from a Harris bi-pod.

What handloading manual do you use?
How is the kick w/out the muzzle brake?
If you could do it all over again, what would you add or take away from the rifle.
Are you using a scope? If so, what make model and magnification?

Thanks again,

Lazer Beam

Both Norma and VihtaVuori have online manuals with 338 data.
The load for the Ballistic Tip is my own however.

Be careful not to switch brand of brass without working up the loads again.
The Norma cases show signs of high pressure before the Lapua do. I only use Norma brass due to the price; it's only half the price of Lapua in my country(Denmark)

The recoil is severe when shooting from prone. I use a piece of thick foam rubber between shoulder and stock.
Sometimes i forget to bring the rubber to the range. Those days I don't shoot much.

I use a Swarovski 6-24x50 with TDS reticle. Thank God for the telescopic eyepiece

The only thing I would like to change is a 27" barrel instead of the 24.5" which is standard on the Scandinavian model.

I can higly recommend this rifle

The recoil cant be that bad I had the honors of getting to shoot a 338 Rem ultra mag today A friend of mine bought it for this 2004 elk season his handload chronographed at with a 200 grain speer sp at 3,156 fps I got to shoot 6 shots with it the recoil didnt bother me much i will admit it is a pretty good punch though. I dont start complaining about recoil untill trying to shoot more then 10 shots with my dads old 458 win mag has no recoil pad just a plain butt plate.

Hodgdon has a few loadings listed for the 338 lapua. heres the link to their listed loads http://www.hodgdon.com/data/rifle/338lapuamag.php

Everyone has different pain-level but this kind of recoil WILL bother most shooters from prone position.
I can maybe shoot 10 shots wearing only a t-shirt but that all. After that every shoot is pure pain[:@]

Yea i over looked it but you said prone yea prone hurts a bit more. you might try getting a SVL recoil pad I put one on my turkey shotgun I shoot a 3.5 inch federal premium hi velocity pushes 2 ounces of shot at 1300 fps out of my 7 lb shotgun has a recoil equivalence to a 416 rigby. The SVL (sims vibration labratory) recoil pad reduced the felt recoil to about that of a 30-06's recoil. they are great heres a link http://www.limbsaver.com/limbsaver/f...grind2fit.aspx

The slip on recoil pad could be a solution. I'm also considering buying one of those to strap on the shoulder.
I only need the protection at the range. When hunting you don't notice the recoil anyway
