Thanks hunter338, i'll give it a try. What are the caracteristics of the Interlock bullet? Do you think the reason i had so much trouble with the ballistic tips are because they were just too light at 200gr? Anyone else with an opinion on this?

hunter338, I am having trouble finding load data for the .338RUM. what are you using? I want to work up a load for elk hunting. I will be using a Rem 700 BDL. All the books I have don't have any info on this in them. Any suggestions on where to start or find data?
allcamo, my uncle loads the .338 win and has best luck with RL19 as well. He was using Nosler partion. I will try to find out exactly how many gr. he is using and post later.

buck knife.
I have tried a few loads in my 338 RUM but nothing that I would post as of yet.
Try going to the accurate reloading website. They have a good reloading page on the 338 RUM. Might do like I do and start there and work your way up.
You might also go to some of the other powder makers websites. They also have some good starting points for this cal. But do be carefull about
some of these loads. If they look odd then dont try them.
Hope it helps.

all camo,
my question is you went from a 300 win mag to a 338 win mag for deer?? WTF!!! Ive seen the size deer you shoot a 22-250 would be plenty. And besides what are you gonna do when your neighbor acrossed the street gets a 338 rem ultra mag, i guess youll get a 416 rigby for those 50 lb suitcase jobs you shoot!!! lol When will it end, Reddings gun shop has a 50 bmg now i guess thats where it will end, Just like Willie in the incomplete hunter3 I shot him from a mile and a half!!

You may have already found a load by now, but in case you haven't... I used to use:
Win 70 Classic stainless/synthetic with the BOSS
200 grn Hornady Spirepoints
71 grns of RL 19 for 2650 fps
OR 77 grns of RL 19 for 2900 fps
Recoil with the lighter load was less than a friend's .270 and fun to shoot. The heavier load still was comparatively mild with the muzzle brake. Groups ran about .7" with 3 shots, 1.25" with 5.
Funny thing though, I never could get 3000 fps with 200 grain bullets using any "book" loads, even with the 26" braked barrel.
