RE: Best Brass?
Federal used to be my favorite, but I haven't bought any since they got bought out by CCI. If their brass is still soft I will use Federal when I get some new cases. Winchester is my second favorite.

Norma and Lapua brass is head and shoulders above anything else out there. For run of the mill brass I prefer winchester over most of the others out there. I feel the quality is a bit better than remington but to be honest either will serve you okay.

RE: Best Brass?
To me I use the best brass I can get for the rounds I am reloading for. For instance I like Federal Gold Medal for .223 Rem., .308 Win., .30-06, and .300 Win Mag., I use also use the .30-06 brass for my .240 Gibbs, and also use the .300 Win Mag case for my .257 B&B mag and my .270 B&B mag. I use Norma brass for my .243 Win's. I use Rem. 7mm BR brass for my .22 BR. I use Winchester .284 Win. brass for my 6mmX.284 and 6.5mmX.284, and I use Win. brass for .218 Bee and .22 Hornet. I use Weatherby brass for my Weatherby's. I use RWS 9.3x64 for my 7mm HBB.
I have had good result with all the different brass I use, if you take the time and effort to work it correctly. I buy large amounts in bulk of the same lot, so I can sort and cull them by weight, etc. Out of every 100 rounds, I get about 60-75 that I can work with.

RE: Best Brass?
FVA,
Every once in a while I'll run some test on different makes of brass in a particular rifle, especially if I'm after extreme accuracy. The last time I did this was on some .270 Win cases that I intended to use in a new .30-06. The Federal fell out first, then the Remington and I ended up using the Winchester cases again. This has, with only one or two exceptions, been the case. Winchester seems to be mush more consistent in weight as well as thickness and length. I hope that this will be of some help.
