RE: Buying powder at Bass Pro

BTW that is a violation of the Privacy Act of 1974
I believe the privacy act of 1974 has to do with your rights when a government agency asks you for your social security number....nothing more!!!

Eldeguello has pegged this one.....buy your powder elsewhere else.

Actually the privacy act of 1974 applies to any personal information requested by a government agency beit federal, state or local. Not just your social.

Trebark, they are full of bull. I also buy at Bass Pro and same treatment. Go to clydes up near Linthicum. They don't have this rule. Or gun shack in Mt. airy.

Bigcountry,
I didn't think about Clyde's. Do they have a pretty good selection of powders? How are their prices and Gun Shack's?
Thanks,
Charlie

Don't expect deals at clydes. But it is convienent and I don't have to fight the crowd at bass pro. Gun Shack has a great selection for the reloader. But its well out of your way.

Actually, I can be in Mt Airy in about 30 minutes, and I hunt right near there. Been to the Gun Shack several times, but only to check deer in. Never checked their reloading supplies. BTW, I just talked to my buddy at the FM office, and he's not aware of any such law! He says that he will make a few phone calls tonight or tommorow, and he'll get back with me.
Thanks for the info.
Charlie

I wouldn't buy a thing at a Bass Pro nothing... I have never been in such a poorly stocked gun store/sporting goods store except fishing in my entire life... They are a CAbelas wantobe.

You know oldelk, I totally agree. Your the first person I have found to agree with me on this. I was so excited when they opened one close to my company. Opening day was the last day I found them to be stocked up. I mean I went there the other day, and I couldn't find a barnes manuel, couldn't find Retumbo powder, and then only 30 cal bullets they had was Speer. Then went to jacket section, and didn't have tall's or anything related to my size. I told the manager, that was it. He said they were thinking of discontinueing reloading supplys to make space and on and on. I guess for more stupid gift sections with stuffed animals. So I took a 2hour drive to Cabelas up in Hamburg, PA. Had all that stuff and a bunch more.

dont recall that being the case when i bought powder inst louis at the bass pro there. infact unlike what you say is at your store the one in St Louis just had the powder out on the shelves like any normal store. in fact i know of no age limit on buying powder or reloading components, as i couldnt buy ammo for my 357 before i turned 21, but i could buy components anywhere
