I posted earlier about reloading for my old 260 Savage. I had to seat the bullets down past the crimp ring to get them to fit the chamber. Last night I made a dumby load for the Ruger rifle and was happy to see that I could leave the bullets out well past the crimping ring. When the bulletd contact the rifleing I am about .050 from the crimp ring. I should have plenty of room for powder. My Speer Manual shows RE-19 to be the best powder for velocity. Going to have to wait for ND to warm up a bit before I can do any testing. I am going to start with 120 grain bullets. I have a box of Corlokts and a bow of Sierra 120 gr Pro-hunter. I was real happy with the performance of the 120 gr pro-hunter in my 280 this year. Its mostly a long range bullet in the 280 at that bullet weight.

James, I checked my Hornady manual and my Lyman manual and the RL 19 is a good performer there also.
H-4831, RL 22, IMR 4831, and Viht N-165 are also promising.....you have a lot of good options.
