How long will powder last?

I have prob 8 different cans of powder in my basement... Been down there for about 5 years... Just curious is it ok... I'm getting my reloading stuff back out and planning on using it...

If it was stored well it should be just fine.

Agreed! If it's in the original containers and was not subjected to moisture, it should be fine.

If it doesn't work ...

it'll let you know. Civil War and WWII ammo and explosives still can kill people.

It will be fine.

I've got some powder from the 90's & it shoots as good as new!

Keep it cool and dry and it will last longer than you will.

when you open it, make sure it still has the sweet ether smell and its still dark black or grey colored, if its rust red looking and smells acidic then its going bad.

Keeping the containers sealed is essential....I have powder from the 90's as well and all are still great!
