Looking for a 44 mag revolver hunting load.
I am having trouble cooking up a hunting load for a particular revolver. I have a Ruger black hawk flat top, 6.5" barrel. It seems to not like my normal loads for my other 44s. It shots ok, but does not group as well as my other 44 mags. The gun has no issues, just have not found that magic load for it yet. What are some of your hunting loads?
My loads are 240 grain XTP over H 110. I am thinking of using win 296. I have yet to try it but have read great things about it.

H110 and Win 296 are the same powder, different label. I have loaded 44 Mag for over 30yrs and I myself feel that you are going to be REALLY hard pressed to find a better powder/slug load.
I shoot and load for over 8-44 mag's, I have 3, friends and family for the other 5 and use almost nothing but H110/Win 296. I have shoot some really nice groups with Alaint (Formerly Hercules) 2400 also.
Another great projectile that I use and am finding it harder to find is the Winchester 210grn SilverTip. What loads have you tried so far? Are you seating/locking on the cannuler? Are your cases uniform, same brand, trimmed correctly to length, not too long? What primer are you using or have tried?

Burnie, Im shooting a Ruger Super Redhawk and my load is 23 gr of H-110 with a col of 1.6" using Hornady XTP 240 gr. It really is about the best combo out there. I got this load from Bigcountry and it performs well in almost every 44 weve tried it in.
