Thanks BigBob will try that load and go from there.Only thing I have noticed with Varget is that CCI primers seem to work the best.

RE: Opinions on the most accurate varmint bullet (.224cal)?

I have had good success with Nosler Ballistic Tips and Sierra MK' s. The Hornady' s are dissappointing in my 22 cals. I shot theses groups about 2 weeks ago, they are a good representation of the .224 50 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip in my 28 " barrled 220 Swift. It' s steady shooter in the .3' s with 5 shots @ 100yds. These were loaded with enough IMR-4064 to push em a tad over 4000fps. Not truly outstanding BR accuracy but good enough for the shooting I do.

The bottom line to me is that you have to experiment some to find out what combination your particular rifle likes, this would include bullets, powders/ weight, primers, O.A.L. etc.

Keep em in the black........AA

We have two Ruger 77 Vt' s. One in .22-250 and one in .223 both prefer 40 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips. The shot groups look similiar to the ones above. I have also shot several deer out to 300 yards with this bullet in the .223.
