Default Which Case Trimmer For Me?

Just getting started in reloading. Have been reloading .38s and .357s all summer now. Have several hundred loaded up with different loads I've been playing around with and learning. I'm ready to start learning how to reload for my rifles. I will be reloading .30-06 and .30-30 to start with. Eventually .243, 7.62X54, and whatever else I end up buying. I need to know what case trimmer I should buy. Money isn't a huge issue, but I do not want to throw money at something I don't really need. So what should I go with? I'll be loading a couple hundred rounds for each, not a whole lot, but still a good amount.

The Lee Case Trimmer seems to be the cheapest and simplest, and I've read good things about it. Would this work well for me and the amount I use? http://www.midwayusa.com/product/476...-and-lock-stud

The other I'm looking at is the LE Wilson Trimmer. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/716...e-trimming-kit

I'm open to suggestions. Would like to stay under $150-$175 to get everything I need. But if you think I need to go higher I will. Not afraid to spend it, just don't wanna waste it!

forester makes a good case trimmer. ive had one for over 20 years and it works well. all you will need is the pilots for the calibers you will be loading.

I'll look into that Mr. Slim. Thanks. I see you're from Indiana, PA. That's where I rifle hunt. My family has a cabin in Indiana County.

you will need a good set of digital calipers to check and set the trimmer, also.

I have a Lyman for going on 20yrs now and it has been headache free. mr. Slim is dead on about having to have a set of calipers to check for various needs of the metalic reloading world. Both to see if the cases are over the maximum length and then to set the correct length to which the cases will be trimmed to.

I've got good sets of calipers, been around machining and such my whole life so I'm set there. I'm heading to a couple local shops later this week to see what is local like RR said. Thanks for the help so far everyone! Mr. Slim, I'll PM you

I have a RCBS Power Trimmer, and it works fine. Good luck.

I started with a hornady trimer works fine but is slow like I think most of the other trimers will be. I was given a RCBS and man is it fast simple to use with it cam lever type holder. Its not the powered trimer but the trimer part of it is the same. You can also get the 3-way cutter (one per caliber) and the deburing and chamfering is done when you trim.

Unless you are seting up benck rest cartridges get the RCBS If you are get the wilson trimmer from sinclair Int.
