Man, this is frustrating. Over a year ago I decided I wanted to start reloading, mostly at the time for my 45-70 but also ready to go with 44 mag, 270, 22-250 and 257 Roberts. I've got the reloading equipment, the brass, the bullets, the powder....and no primers. I ordered LR and LP primers last APRIL from Cabelas along with powder and some other stuff. (salesman at the local store said that internet/catalog orders are filled before any product is shipped to stores) Most of the stuff trickled in, last July I called about my primers which I still had not received. I was informed that they had emailed me if I wanted to keep the primers back-ordered and I hadn't responded so they cxld the order. What email address? One I hadn't had in years...yet I receive offers by email and snail mail on a weekly basis at my new email address. Shouldn't it take action on the part of the customer to cancel an order, not the failure to reply to an email that may or may not have been received? And once the issue was discovered, shouldn't I have been placed back in my original place "in line" to receive my primers? (customer service said they "couldn't" do that.
So my questions....Does anyone know where I can buy LR and LP primers in Fort Worth, TX area? Has anyone received or bought primers in the past year from Cabelas? Are the manufacturers really this short of common primer types?
Disclaimer: This is not solely a flame of Cabelas, (thought I am pretty freaking frustrated having spoken with customer service a half dozen times in the past 8 months) I have been a huge fan since we used to drive to the Sydney store from Denver in the early '90s. I have had a Cabelas Visa card since 1993. I have used the points from it to get a free Marlin 1895 45-70 and a free Savage 22-250....and I am close to $400 in credit now. (S&W J frame airweight or LCR?) My standing request of anyone who will ask about Christmas or birthday wish list is a Cabelas gift card. I made my wife work there for a couple of years when they opened the Ft. Worth store to get the discount.

With backordered reloading components these days, all bets are off. I have .40cal bullets on backorder with MidwayUSA since May. Primers are worse. It's a supply from the manufacturer problem.
I have not seen magnum large rifle primers on a shelf since November 2008.

I don't think this is your fault. I had the exact same thing happen to me recently. They told me I had to cancel the order. I explained no way. Anyway, they put me back on the list, but now I am at the bottom. I have recieved 4 of the 5 bricks I ordered but still am waiting for my CCI large mag pistol primers. I was on the list in Oct, and got everything starting last month.
Somehow cabelas screwed up.

I have a few small rifle and pistol primers I'll never use. Probably 30 or so of each. I'm in PA but I guess I could ship them? They're at my cabin, which I will go to next weekend. If you want, I could try to hook you up.

Thanks for the offer, but I am looking for Large Rifle and Large Pistol...about 1000 each.
zmax hunter If you want to come to Kansas, we can just buy them all off the shelf, seems to be plenty here,..now anyway.
Man, that is hard to believe based on what I am seeing here. Any particular retailer that may be down here too?

doe dumper, what makes you believe that?
im just about to start handloading...waiting on everything to come in....but its all shipped...
only thing to hunt down today is primers...and if i wasnt being picky, id have them already....
biggest reason i wanted to start loading was so i can hoard components instead of loaded ammo
...once i find loads for all my guns, im stock piling...it'll be a cold day when i wont have ammo available...or have to pay insane prices to buy it...
