Has anyone tried Trail Boss powder yet? My brother-in-law just bought some to try, and he was telling me what he knew about it. From what I've read, it's a bulky fast burning powder for loading lead bullets at low velocities. I'm really intrigued by the idea of loading a 110 grain cast lead bullet to around 1000 fps in my 30-30 and my 30-06. After all, it's more fun to shoot tin cans than punching holes in paper during the off season.

I use it with 100 and 110gr Hornady bullets in the 30-30 for my 7 year old to shoot. Its great for training him to shoot a larger rifle and get a bit of the pop without the heavy recoil. I use a powder dipper to put the powder in, I believe I use the 2.2 cc one with the 110gr round nose and 2.5 with 100gr. half jacket bullets. They are accurate out to 60 yards that I have found and although I haven't chronoed the loads I am just guessing that they are clipping along at between 800-1000fps.

Thanks tuk, this stuff sounds pretty good. It'll probably make a good armadillo load in the 30-30.
