Default Powder for 45ACP

I've never loaded much for pistols (except 44MAG) because you could buy ammo reasonably cheap. With that becoming less the case (even if you can find any) I'm looking at reloading for the 45acp.

I've already bought a pile of 230gr ball just to shoot for plinking/practice. My question is what powder should I turn to? I plan tothrow the powder for volume shooting so well metering is a plus.

I see alot of people are using unique but have heard good & bad about it. I'm looking at TiteGroup & AA#5 because I've heard it is very clean, but I'm really looking & openfor suggetions. What do you guys use???? Pro/con....

It will be shot through a Kimber Pro Raptor.

thanks

Hodgdon's HS 6 works real well in the 45 ACP. It is cleaner than Unique, and meters through the powder measure better.

I've shot Blue dot, Unique, 231 and I believe it was HS-6, the 231 was the cleanest, it is a fine grain powder. What type of measure are you planning on using? I've had no issues with my Lyman DPS but the Lee autodisk can be messy, The Lee perfect measure is much better. I'd imagine that the Redding and RCBS measures would be just fine.

I use Bullseye most of the time. I also use IMR 7625.

W231 is what I use.

I have tried Blue Dot, Red Dot, Universal Clays, and a host of other ones I don't remember and keep coming back to 231.
