seating depth?
hello everyone. i have a 300 rum i really like the 200 gr accubond bu tat the bullet is so long that even when i am on the lands the bullet is seated too far into the case i guess it is not a bad thing for hunting but the pressure around the bullrt i think is interefering with my accuracy. so i switched to a 200 gr sierra hpbt they are much shorter but now i have the xllut where i want it but i am only 50thousands off of the lands do you think that 50 thousands is enough to keep the pressure down, or do any of you have a suggestion?
thanks,
josh

RE: seating depth?
The 300RUM is designed for some freebore. Most magazines can only handle 3.65" COL. I went around on a quest once with my trusty stoney point COL and a few bullets. I found the freebore to range from 3.7" to 3.8". In other words one would have to load 3.7" to touch the lands.
I found accurate loads at 3.57" and 3.4". Go out as far as you can. Load up several different COL's and find the most accurate place.
Look at your case and bolt lift to find pressure signs.
