My 30.06 Spr. rifle, a Browning BBR, loves 165 gr. Partitions or Game Kings, at the muzzle velocities on the "hot side" of medium loads. You'll need to work up the "sweet" load yourself. Every rifle is a "thing unto itself". So what is good for me may not be good for you.

Not sure where you're from steiner. If you are up north where the big deer live than any 180 gr bullet will work fine. As you get farther south and the deer get smaller, you can use the 150 gr bullets.
A good, inexpensive bullet is the old reliable Hornady Interlock (not the Interbond). They have killed countless critters before everyone said you 'needed' a premium bullet.

I am getting about .75" group with 56.5 grains of IMR4350. I am using Win brass, CCI large rifle primers, and 165 Spear boat tails. I am new to reloading as well - hoping to shrink....even more with a little more powder. Shooting a Ruger bolt. Good Luck!

Shoot a 1965 Savage 110 LH w/ a 1-9 twist150 Hornady interloc at 2700 +- 50 1" 100 yrd groups with 46.5 4350 CCI large rifle primers TW54 brass .
Taken 2 200+ lb mule deer to 150yrds both dead within 10 ft of impact both slid a little down hill . The books tell me that load has over 1000 pounds left at 500yrds . 12" high at 100 lets me hold at the top of the shoulder at 375 and boiler house a pronghorn (damned shame I never got to take that shot).
