Even though I live in the middle of a 2300 acre "yard" and noise is not an issue, for close up varmit control I prefer my Marlin 39A loaded with 60gr aguila sub sonics. If you're shooting an auto loader, they may not be any quieter than standard ammo, but at 30-50 yards they hit harder than any standard 22LR I've ever tried.

Try a CCI Velocitor. They are 40 grs and nearly as fast as a Stinger. I use them for squirrel and if you don't hit them in the head they destroy a lot of meat. They shoot accurately, out of most 22s, and are the most powerful, easy to get, 22 cartrage.
