YES DEFINATELY DO NOT USE THAT LOAD WITH THE BARNES BULLET. Barnes will give you load data if you call them and ask for it.

RE: barnes triple shock x

I use H-4831, IMR-4831, H-4350 & IMR-4350 for my 270 Winchester. I use 130, 140 & 150 grain Hornady and Nosler bullets exclusively. I have never have and never will use Barnes copper bullets ever since I witnessed an older X-bullet fail on an antelope. This .257 caliber 100 grain Barnes X-bullet never opened up out of the 25-06 Remington. Depending on what I am going after Hornady and Nosler have me covered for my 270 Winchester

Why would 4831 be better than 4350 for .270? Is it because you use more of the powder and create a denser (fuller) case of powder? I bought some 4831sc at someones suggestionbut have not done much with it cause 4350 seemed good enough. So I wonder what cane make a powder betterin a certain situations? Like say a 90 br Sierra HP which I live to load and shoot at 'yotes. I am just getting back into reloading after MANY yrs also.

IMR 4831 or H4831SC in a .270 Win with the 130gr offering. As advised start low, contact Barnes for data and remember a pure copper bullet is going to have a longer bearing surface than a lead cored bullet. This will nessecitate deeper seating taking away some case capacity. My Win FWT Classic doesn't care what powder as long as the 130 slugs are doing around 3000fps it's MOA.Had good results with Win 760 and mag primers.........................Harold
