I've asked this before and looked into it as well.
Here's the skinner:
Yeah, you can do it. But there just isn't the choice of actual projectiles, there's maybe 3 or 4 "sabot slugs" you can buy as components. I never did find actual empty sabots for a 12guage barrel so that I could pick and choose the actual bullet.
