I load R19 In my wsm's, because it produced the best accuracy. In the past I've substituted H4831 for r19 as their burn rate are nearly identical. At any rate I would start with one of those two powders and work up a load.

I have been loading for a few different 300 WSM's for the last couple of year's. I switched to H414 this year for two of them. I am getting an additional 100-200 fps, and better accuracy. I am getting 3350 for a 26 inch Savage 12FVSS with the 155 grain Palma bullet from Sierra.
Here is a picture of my 300WSM. It is a real shooter. Tom.

Tom,
Thanks for the information..Sorry but I think that is one
ugly looking stock
....But you gotta love them Savage
rifles..I have been a Savage shooter for years.
In fact I just got the new varment rifle in 22-250 cal.
I had one made into a 30-338 and used it in the 1000
yard shoots..Folks were pretty impressed with it..
My 300 WSM is a Vangard..I aint to happy with it but
it makes for a good deer rifle.. John

I use 69.0 grains of IMR 4831 under Barnes 168g TSX bullet and it = 3200 fps
We have used my Model 70 shooting this load to harvest a Bison andseveral elk.
Works great
For me IMR 4831 is a little bit faster velocity than the RL-19, but both are sub 1" inch groups.
