RE: 338-06
Very similar to the 338 Federal. It is suppose to be about 150-200 fps faster than the Federal. I have not shot one, but I loaded one for a friend. Very accurate load with a 225 grain bullet. Very nice cartridge. Tom.

RE: 338-06
I have had one since '98. Here are the details:
Rem 700 action, coverted to BDL model
Cryo-treated Kreiger barrel, #4 contour
McMillan stock
Leupold 2.5-8x in Talley LW mounts
Tuned factory trigger
Reloading is easy. I start with new .30-06 brass and size them in a Redding size die. My rifle shoots many different bullets well. My current favorites are 200gr NBT's, 225 NAB's, 250gr Grand Slams. I have had really good luck with IMR 4064 powder, in fact, I bought an 8# can of it. IMR 4350 and Alliant's RL-15 also show promise, but I've burned A LOT of 4064 with great results. I have shot several groups under an inch at 200 yards and several more one-hole groups at 100 yards. The 200gr bullets leave at just over 2800fps from my 25" barrel, the 250's are mid 2400's.

I'veowned a .338-06since the late 70's and i've harvested a lot of big game in Alaska from brown bear and moose on down with mine...
I prefer the heavier bullets for the bigger animials with the 250NP being a good all around bullet to use..
