RE: 6.5 Rem mag
Thanks for the replies. It would be at its best with bullets like the 125 Partition. I love the 6.5's

RE: 6.5 Rem mag
ORIGINAL: James B JUST THINKING. SO FAR. Who loads for one of these and where can you get new brass? I checked Midway and Cabelas with no luck. I was just looking and comparing the 22-250,6mm and the 6.5 remington for varmits that are way out there. The lightest factory load I have seen for the 6 was 100gr and for the 6.5 was 120. I did see 58gr vmax for the 6 and only a 95gr for the 6.5 I would think the 58gr for the 6mm would blow away the 22-250 or would I be wrong? And do you know what's the lightest bullet you can get for the 6.5 rem mag would be? I would think you could get lighter than a 95gr.And how you think these two cartridges do compared to the 22-250 as for yardage out to 300+ yrds. Drop in inches? I am just looking for the flattest of these three cartrides so I can decide on what vermit rifle to buy. This would all so mean it would give me an excuse to try hand loading. Most likely theseRNDs will be put thru a 26 inch barrel. |
RE: 6.5 Rem mag
There is a85 grain bullet listed in the Lee manual for the 6.5. The 6MM Remington is a real flat shooter. However all things considered, it hard to beat the 22-250 for pure varmit shooting. Its hard to keep up with ballistics with all the new bullets and powders comming out but get a good ballistics chart and its hard to beat the 22-250 for cost to operate, components, brass and it has pretty good barrel life. Spend a few buck more and have it reamed to 22-250 AI. You now have about as best as it gets;)
