i whack it on a rock or cinderblock. best luck is by using a light grip on the hammer and whack the devil out of it.[:@]

Going through some old posts and came upon this one where Statjunk asked if the bullet would be ok to use again. Here is what I do to prevent the bullet tip from getting damaged and it works every time without fail...use a foam (roll up and insert in the ear) ear plug and insert it into thehammer and then proceed with pulling the bullet. I have pulled many bullets this way and it works especially well with soft lead tipped spire bullets.

I've never had much luck hitting the bench. I use the basement floor. And don't just swing at the floor, swing through it. Like the Tigers teeing off on Mussina last nite.

For crying out loud don't bash it on a rock,cinderblock or concrete floor.This will only bend or break the handle.Get a hardwood block and turn it on end and wack it hard a few times till it loosens.I've recycled lots of ammo this way and still have an undamaged handle 20 years later.............Harold

Using a shellholder can damage the rim of the brass since it isn't supported all the way around. Make sure the flat part of the collet is facing the rim.

Go with a Hornady Cam Lock bullet puller and never look back. It fits in the press just like a die and you'll need the correct collet for your bullet.

This has been a pretty funny read lol. I am glad that I came accross this thread since I am in the market for a bullet puller. I have about 30 rounds of oops that I need to redo or save the bullet from.

Think of a bullet puller as an eraser.Why waste components?Harold
