anybody else notice gamekings to be a little on the excessive side when it comes to copper fouling? I hate to go to different bullet since these shoot so well from my 308. Im using 165 grain HPBT's with a 46 grain charge of varget. maybe if i changed powders or bullet weight, that might reduce the copper fouling?

It could just be your barrel.I have owned rifles that fouled with all bullets tried and others that hardly fouled at all.The worst bullets that I have used for fouling were the barnes x and the swift scirocco.Yet the tsx does not foul in either of the rifles that I use it in.

My experience has been the same. The Sierra may have the least fouling of any bullet out there. If you look down your barrel with a Hawkeye bore scope, it will probably show some pitting and other irregularities that are grabbing copper as the bullet goes by. As long as it shoots well, I would just accept the extra cleaning required as part of owning that rifle. Could be worse . . . . . gun cleans very easily, but doesn't group well.

its a remington m700 mountain rifle, and does group very well for a toothpick barrel aslong as im doing my part it shoots inch groups and sometimes a little better at 100 yards. perhaps i should just overlooked the copper fouling and look into better ways to clean out the copper ive been using outers foaming bore cleaner which claims to get the copper out, it does get alot of the copper out with 3 to 4 consecutive treatments just not all of it. Any ideas or better methods to get the copper out? your input is much appreciated. thanks guys

I thought gamekings had guilding metal jackets, which has some copper content, as all do. The barns should be a nightmare in your rifle if it fouls bad with gamekings. You may want to try the Tubbs final finish treatment on your barrel. I haven't tried it but it's supposed to smoothe and polish the bore of your rifle, while only wearing the bore by .0001, which you can't measure anyhow. The process is advertised to decrease fouling, and improve accuracy at the same time. It's available from www.midwayusa.com and possiably from others. It's a simplified method of lapping the bore.

Ever use J-B compound? When used per the instructions, this is good stuff. I have a .270 that I've owned for about 30 years now. I always clean my guns after shooting. This rifle shot great, really great, for 20 years with Nosler bullets. Then I started to notice a gradual decline in accuracy. I used the J-B per the instructions and even though the bore looked clean, the junk that came out of it was incredible. The old rifle is back to shooting nice little clusters of Nosler Ballistic Tips.
From what I understand, those ultra-sonic cleaners do a good job too.
