I was wondering if you could give me some info for 165gr SST bullet. I would like to know what powders they say give the best accuracy and the highest velocties. I just got into reloading this summer so I haven't had a chance to do a lot of experimenting, but I plan on doing so after hunting season is over. I'm using the 150gr SST's and H-Varget powder which is shooting great out of my BAR with a 20" barrel. I like the performance that the 150gr SST gave me on the deer that I shot last weekend but I would like to experiment with the 165gr SST's. Any personal experiences or recommendations would be greatly appreciated
Thanks.

For a powder recomendation you will have to give the cartride your rifle is chambered for.As for accuracy there is no way to predict which powders will be most accurate in your gun.

OOOPS, you're right I did forget to mention the cartridge. I need the info for the .308 winchester. Stub, I understand what you mean about what powders may shoot well or may not shoot well out of this rifle until I try different ones but if there are powders that generally shoot better than others with the 165gr bullets then I'll have a good starting point.
Thanks.

I shoot 41.0 gr of IMR4064 and Federal match primers with 165 gr and 168 gr. bullets. Its not a maximum load, but it gives me the best accuracy out of my .308.
The Hornady manual says to use IMR 4064 or Win 748 powders for best results with the .308.
Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms... who's bringing the chips?

I only have a third generation book prior to sst's.
I like to really stick to the books. what you can do is e mail hornady and ask them for the info. they have sent me stuff for the 7mm stw and 260 rem.
