.257 Accubond
#1

I got a chance this morning to see how the 110 gr. .257 Nosler Accubond performs on elk. My niece got to go on one of these special youth hunts about two hours from here - used my .25-06 Ackley Improved - I went along since my brother in law was working. At 275 yards broadside, the bullet entered the left shoulder - broke it low - made a 1.5" hole through the heart - and came to rest in the right armpit. Elk was down in about two seconds.Bullet still weighs 71 grains. I think this is about as good as it gets for 1/4" bore on an animal this big.

Thanks for the update, thats very encouraging. I have an great load worked up for my Rem Classic 25.06 with the 110gr accubonds.Ishot the best group (4-shots) of my life with this bullet several weeks ago that measured 0.325, needless to say i was very happy with those results.Only time will tell about the accubonds but from all the reviews and reports coming infrom the field the accubond looks to be living up to Nosler's claims ofaccuracy and excellent performance on game.I can't wait to try them on Whitetails in Oct.

Hey Mykey, how about sheding a little light, what powder are you using?I have tried H4831 and H4350 and can't get the 110 accubonds to group well! This is also from a 25-06. P.S. Barnes 100 gr TSX shoot sub MOA 5 shot groupswith H4831sc at 3300 fps.

I also tried imr4350/4831and wasn't happy with the results.I did get one descent 5 shot group that measured about 1-1/4 with the 4831 but that was the best i could do with those two powders.
The best powder i've found for the 110gr accubond and the 25.06 isRL22.I worked withthe same load data as the 115gr partition which is what nosler recommended when i called them. Check your pm's i'll send you my pet load there. Mike

Hello Roskoe. So much for the .243/.257 range bullets being too light for Elk. That Accubond has to be one of the best Elk bullets around. Given her bullet was screaming, a 110 gr bullet doing that much damage is awesome! Thank-you for the detailed report....if it's okay with you, I'd like to use this on another Forum. What a great story. Put the bullet where it belongs and good things happen. Regards, Rick.

Ok with me to use on another forum. Thanks for asking first. BTW - I am also using RL 22 with this caliber. It seems to bring out the best in most of the30/06 family ofAckley Improved's.
