Default 130gr bullets in 30-06 or 300 WSM???

I was wondering how the 130s shot outof 06s and 300 WSMs? I would like to use 130s for coyotes and perhaps antilope in the future.

Thanks
Tom

I've tried them in the '06 but for varminting prefer the 125 Ballistic Tip.....try it yourself...it works in a lot of guns.

If you are talking about the 130 Xbullets then they will kill anything a 30/06 or 300shortie needs to be shot at in the first place. I used to shoot them in my Warbird at nearly 4k fps and they NEVER once failed me (shot 2 dozen+ deer with them so I got a fair test on them from 45yds to over 450. I only replaced them because the new 150 TSX can be driven nearly as fast and is much more accurate and elimnates fouling. The new 130 TSX will be my next "toy" and I have no doubt it will be "da bomb" from my pet "lazerstick".

130 hollow points I'm not sure of but back in the late 80s a buddy of mine handloaded for me some 110HPs (Speer I'm wantin to say they were, don't quote me on that) for my 06 for fartsNgiggles, they were very hot for the ol 06. I only shot one doe with them just to see what happened. The first shot was inside of 50yds and didn't even penetrate one lung. The other two shots where in the guts as she hightailed it across the field. Needless to say it was just about the grossest guttin job I have ever had! [:'(] I can't eat purple jello too this day. [:-]

Wouldn't dream of shooting anything larger than a yote with light HPs, the Xbullets are THE choice IMHO,

I would probably get the tripple shocks for antilope, but I was wondering about the 130s in general.

In my 30-06 The 130gr.BTS really smokes.High velocity (3100-3200fps)and flat shooting capabilities its now use it for long range deer hunting...Like R.D. said great for long ranges...
Perfect for coyotes up to deer....
The boattail design gives it a high B.C. (somewhere in the .380)
for the size of bullet....
I've tried it on a few coyotes this yearseveral at around 385yrds -410 and dumped them..
I will use it for this deer seaon......The 130 weight.. recovered retention at 125gr.and higher..
A conventional bullet may give you 60% of overall weight when its recovered.....You'll be lucky to get 125gr and higher after you recover a conventional bullet weighing 150-180 gr...
The 130gr. will be the wave of the future for alot of hunters
that deal with long range deer hunting but can't handle the heavier recoil of magnums....Perfect for women....

The 130 gr bullet in wither cartridge will give very respectfully. But if you really want to get some super long range coyote loads in your 300WSM,load up some 100gr hp,s. That would be a real kick in there pants. vangunsmith
