7mm-08 Remington

I am loadingworking up a load fora Remington Model 7 7mm-08 Rem. (Hornady 139 gr. SP) for mule deer. This rifle belongs to a 11 year old kid. I only havetwo available powders WIN 760 or H 414 (I am leaning towards WIN 760). Which one would you folks use? Thanks in advance.

There isn't much to choose from here - I understand these are essentially the same powder. Sort of like WW 540 and HS-6. Or WW 571 and HS-7. And they are some of the best powders for the .308 family of cases.

I have a Rem. 700 7mm-08 Lightweight Mountain Rifle...22" barrel. I had a heck of a time getting it to shoot accurate as I wanted and it was IMR-4064 and 139gr. Hornady SST's that did the trick.

This load is a "tack-driver" in my Model Seven!
41.3gr. of IMR 4064
Remington 9 1/2 primers
Hornady 139gr SST

id go with the H-414 its probably one of the better more consistant sperical powders, im sure you are familiar with hodgdons extreme powders? asfar as extreme velocity spreads and how powder can be effected by tempature H-414 could actually be listed with the extreme powders.

Try a few test loads with each, then use the one that is most accurate.

I agree with subblejumper..if you don't get what you are looking for try another load. There's a gunshop in my area where you can buy little airplane liquor size bottles of different powders instead of having to buy a pound of everything and you can find what your gun likes.

Under normal circumstances I would test both powders, but the father will only spring for one pound. Good luck.
