Default Being outsmarted by the deer.

I've been out two nights in a row now. Both nights, the deer will not come out till just after legal light. The first night it was exactly 18 minutes. the second, about 15. Anyone else having this happen where you are? Where I've been going, theres about 30 deer in the herd. You would think one would come out and make a mistake. How would homer put it: DOOUUUGGGGBBBPPPTTTT!!!!

pharoh, instead of waiting for them to come out to a open field or area, why not go in after them? Get yourself situated in a transition area that the deer use and feel safe, they are moving during legal you just need to revamp slightly to make the opportunity arise! Watch the wind!

Best of luck!

Thanks skeeter, but where they are coming from is the adhoining property in which I'm not allowed to hunt on. I just need them to make one mistake 200 yards away from me, and my muzzleloader will get to roar in anger.

OH that does pose a problem!

Have you tried light rattling? If in rut try rattling a bit louder and longer, it might be enough to pull him out to make that mistake. If does your after try calling by way of a fawn bawl or distress.

Good luck.

Yeah, I tried a rattlebag, and a fawn in distess, and bleat. But we might head out sat. morning and try again. I'll park my butt on a trail, and hope for the best.
